Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating two armed robberies in Newhall in the past week, trying to determine if the two are connected, an official said today.

An armed robbery was reported at a gas station in Newhall Wednesday night, according to Sheriff’s Station Deputy Josh Dubin.

Dubin said the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. in the 23500 block of Newhall Avenue.

Two men, one reportedly carrying a handgun, walked into the gas station and demanded money from the cashier.

The suspects then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, Dubin said.

A similar incident also involving two male suspects took place in Newhall last Friday, Sept. 6. In that incident, two men went into a gas station in the 23900 block of Lyons Avenue around 10:40 p.m. and demanded money from the register attendant.

A handgun was also reportedly used in that robbery, according to Dubin.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the men reportedly fled the scene in a waiting car.

Investigations into the two cases are still ongoing, Dubin said, and no arrests have been made as of yet.

“Our detectives are investigating whether the two incidents are related,” Dubin said.
