‘The Butler’ and other fairy tales

In his letter to the editor in the Aug. 29 edition of The Signal, Brian Springer credits “The Butler” movie as truthful. It is not.

It is a tale from a Hollywood screenwriter. The names of the actors, but for Forest Whitaker, underline the falsehood.
Springer continues with all of the usual hot-button topics that diminish America.

If I were that unhappy with my country, I’d leave it.

Here’s the problem.

Where will I go for immigration policies that treat immigrants, legal and illegal, any better? Who has spent more money on education that the U.S.? Who has better health care?

As for gays and lesbians, relocation will not be Iraq, Saudi Arabia or anywhere else in the Middle East. Iran is definitely out. Its President Ahmadinejad spoke at the UN saying Iran doesn’t have any gays.

Springer writes that most of the opponents to Obamacare are Republicans. If that were true, Obama wouldn’t have stalled implementing Obamacare until after the 2014 elections.

Plenty of Democrats admitted that move was political.

We’ll see how many Democrats theme their 2014 campaigns promoting Obamacare.

History can’t teach us any lessons if we identify with fairy tales and call it history.
