A man selling his SUV was kicked out of the car by a thief posing as a test-driving buyer Wednesday, prompting an immediate search for the lone suspect, a local sheriff’s lieutenant said.

“(The suspect) was test-driving the car when he kicked the other person out,” said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The wanted suspect and the stolen SUV were last seen in Canyon Country driving southbound on Via Princessa shortly before 2:45 p.m., said Bryski. The vehicle was not immediately found.

Deputies were immediately notified to be on lookout for a stolen white 2009 Toyota RAV4 SUV and given a description of the suspect as a Hispanic man, about 25 years old, 5-foot-5 and 180 pounds, wearing a gray shirt and black pants.

The dispatcher advised deputies that the weapon used in the theft was his foot.
