SANTA CLARITA - Volunteers searching for missing teen Bryce Laspisa are buoyed today with news of a possible sighting near a Valencia shopping center, the missing boy’s uncle said.

“There was a possible sighting (Tuesday) afternoon at The Habit Burger Grill in Valencia on McBean Parkway,” Brian David said today. David, brother of Laspisa’s mother, is coordinating search information from his home in Illinois.

He was urging searchers today to check out the Valencia neighborhood around Granary Square, the shopping center where The Habit Burger is located.

Volunteers, meanwhile, planned to meet in Castaic for the third straight day to continue their search for the 19-year-old who vanished Aug. 30 after his SUV was found crashed on an access road leading to the main boat launch at Castaic Lake.

Searchers suffered a setback Tuesday when the missing teen’s father became the victim of a car burglary. The thief broke into the car while the father joined volunteers in the ongoing search, Sgt. Rich Pena said in a news release issued Tuesday night.

The setback has not dampened the spirits or diminished the determination of people committed to finding some sign of Bryce Laspisa.

“There will be a volunteer boat/cove search later today (about) 4:15 p.m.,” David said Wednesday.

Searchers with the Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were also expected to continue the hunt today.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, meanwhile, continue to honor a gag order requested by homicide detectives on information surrounding the body of a man found burning on Lake Hughes Road near Castaic Lake a week ago.

A Coroner’s Office spokesman said no information was being released today about the identity of the burned body.
