Today, I had four ladies.
This is the first time I’ve ever had four lady pro-am partners, and we had a great time, and they were all great.
It’s not so much about me playing good or great.
I like to hit just enough good golf shots to know that I’m still OK.
I drove the ball good today, but to me it’s more important that my amateurs have a good time.
That I pay attention to them and not make it so much about my game and I think that is what most of the guys out here do.
We know this is a big part of our tournament structure.
We play two days of pro-ams, so a big part of the week is pro-ams.
I’ll try certain shots that I probably won’t try in the tournament.
I’ll try to cut doglegs or try to hit it hard a few times, just so the amateurs have something to go home and talk about.
It’s always fun.
It’s a day where you are in competition and your score still counts but it is not a big deal what you shoot.
I want to hit enough good shots that I feel good about what I’m doing and where my game is heading.
I don’t really care if I made two or three bogeys.
I’m still smiling even after I make a bogey.
That is key for me on pro-am days. I don’t play tomorrow.
Tomorrow is laundry day.
I’ll come out and practice a little tomorrow.
(Arizona State basketball) is playing (Arizona) (Thursday) in the Pac-10 tournament, and that will be a huge game for us. (Purtzer is an ASU alum).
I’m not joking about the laundry.
My family is at Disneyland, so I’ll be doing laundry for a good part of the day.
