A 20-year-old man who led law-enforcement officers on a chase from Palmdale through the Santa Clarita Valley and into Simi Valley last July has pleaded no contest to carjacking, a District Attorney’s office spokeswoman said Monday.

Christian G. Cabinillas was immediately sentenced to three years in state prison after he entered his plea to the single felony count on Aug. 28, said Shiara Dávila-Morales.

Cabinillas was spotted July 31 driving a stolen 1998 Toyota Avalon in Palmdale, officials said.

When California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop him, Cabinillas led them and sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit reaching up to 100 miles per hour south on Highway 14 to Interstate 5, Interstate 405 and then to Highway 118.

It traveled to Simi Valley before returning to the San Fernando Valley and was finally halted by CHP officers on the 118 Freeway.
