Local culinary student qualifies for national competition

Ava Bardsley, a student in the Hart School District Regional Occupational Program's Advanced Culinary class, is one only 10 students selected out of 800 applicants nationwide to compete in the Johnson & Wales University Chef of the Year competition.
Bardsley's award-winning recipe won her a spot in the competition which will be held in Miami, Fla., April 3 through 5 and will also be televised on the Food Network Channel at a later date. Winner of this competition will receive a full scholarship to Johnson & Wale University.
Bardsley lives in Newhall and is a senior at Hart High School when not attending the evening ROP class.
