SANTA CLARITA - A gasoline tanker believed to be fully loaded with fuel caught fire on southbound Interstate 5 near Vista Del Lago Road Tuesday afternoon, prompting swift response by firefighters worried the fuel would explode,

Despite the flames, the “product” fuel inside the tanks was not spilled and did not ignite, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

“There were no leaks of the product,” he said.

The fire was reported shortly after 4:20 p.m., and the tanker stopped just north of Vista Del Lago Road. Paramedics treated one person for smoke inhalation, the spokesman said.
