Two magic shows to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club are scheduled for Saturday.

Ring 280 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians is hosting its second annual magic show fundraiser - called "An Evening of Magic" - to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley on Saturday.

"IBM Ring 280 encourages its members to take the simple tricks and turn them into entertaining magic," show producer Mark Wray said.

"There is a difference between entertaining and performing," he said. "It does not require an earth-shattering magic effect to entertain an audience, but the greatest illusion is nothing without the personality behind it bringing the audience to a new experience of the senses."

"An Evening of Magic" will feature two performances at the Boys & Girls Club. Emceed by Jim Ventress, the club's chief professional officer, the show will highlight performances from young and experienced magicians alike.

Local residents Andrew Grill, 12, and Lucas Bugbee, 11, will be performing magic on stage for the first time.

"It is rewarding to see our younger club members perform something that is truly entertaining," Wray added.
