For the first time in team history, TMC women’s volleyball is ranked top 10 in the preseason National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Coaches’ Poll.

The TMC Mustangs were placed at ninth in the national poll, which was released on Tuesday.

TMC is coming off its most successful season in school history last season when it reached the NAIA National Tournament for the first time and finished 27-8.

The team comes into the season with high expectations by returning NAIA second-team All-American Sam Dougherty along and reigning Golden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Bobby Blanken.

The 2013 season began Thursday for TMC, which went 1-1 in its first two games of the Biola/Red Lion Summer Slam tournament. TMC resumes play in that tournament today against NAIA No. 6 College of Idaho.
