On Wednesday, March 11, gastroenterologist Dr. Michael C. Jean from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will present information on "Colorectal Cancer: Prevention, Detection & Treatment," from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 & 2 of the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street, Newhall 91321.
Other Consumer Lectures for March at the SCV Senior Center include "Understanding Your HMO Options," presented Wednesday, March 18 by Anita Chen, Center for Health Care Rights (a nonprofit dedicated to consumer access to quality healthcare through information, education, counseling, advocacy, and research).
On Wednesday, March 25, the Facey Medical Group will hold an "Open Forum: Ask the Doctor." Attendees are encouraged to bring questions about health, medications, exercise, nutrition, longevity, or anything else they would like to ask a physician.
All lectures are from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 & 2 of the SCV Senior Center.
In addition, the center offers the following free health clinics:
n Wednesday, March 11: Hearing Clinic from 11 a.m.-noon, courtesy of Audiology Services of Newhall, in the Respite Day Care Office. n Thursday, March 12: Free foot screenings will be provided by Dr. Shane Rhodes, D.P.M., from 11 a.m. to noon in the Respite Day Care Office. n Wednesday, March 18: Registered Dietitian Lori Robinson will provide free glucose testing from 11 a.m. to noon in the Respite Day Care Office.
Free blood pressure screening takes place each Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in March in the Respite Day Care Office. After April 15, blood pressure checks will take place in Activity Room 3.
