"All I can say is they are no longer in the center," Marketing Director Theone Miller said of Victoria's Jewelers.
"It wasn't a natural expiration of their lease," Miller said. "We're trying to have some communication with them."
Meantime, mall officials are trying to accommodate customers concerned about the store's mysterious disappearance.
"We've been going to them forever ... all my jewelry is from them," said a Valencia resident who declined to be identified. She said she found out Saturday that the store's owner was gone.
"They knew us by name. we had a good rapport with these people. We put a deposit down for an engagement ring and our wedding bands and we also dropped off another ring we had that was getting re-dipped."
The customer left a $3,800 deposit with the store about two weeks ago. But she's not as worried about the money as she is about her boyfriend's ring.
"The money - hopefully we can recover that. But I'm more upset about the ring we left there," the customer said. "That's a sentimental thing. Can we replace it, yes, but it (won't) have the same sentimental value behind it."
The customer filled out a report at the mall office and others were advised to do the same.
