Specialty retailer, Free People, announced it is opening its doors at the Westfield Valencia Town Center in Santa Clarita Aug. 23.

It is one of 18 new retailers and restaurants that have opened — or are soon to open — at the mall this year, said a spokesperson for Westfield.

The bohemian-look clothing for women is distributed globally via direct channels, specialty boutiques, department stores, and the brand’s free-standing retail locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Opening the following day is a new Baskin-Robbins franchise in the Von’s shopping center on Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus.

Ironically, it’s opening right next door to the old location but a new owner is involved, said a commercial broker associated with closing the deal.

Franchisee Kris Chung is opening the new Baskin-Robbins on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Kelsey Lien of Santa Clarita, winner of the 2012 new flavor contest, is expected to be at the grand opening to taste her winning flavor Nutty Cream Cheese Brownie, Chung said.
