"The detectives are working the case, but there are no new leads," Sgt. Darren Harris said Monday. An unidentified man swiped the credit card reader from one of the pumps at the Shell station in the 25300 block of North Chiquella Lane about 3 a.m. on March 1.
The store owner, whose name is being withheld, told deputies he believes enough of the pieces were stolen to assemble a card reader and download credit card information from the stolen device.
However, Harris cautioned that deputies still aren't sure if that's the case.
Identity thieves steal card readers to gain access to the credit card numbers stored on the readers, he said.
