LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Southern California man has been charged with murder for the fatal stabbing of two homeless men whose bodies were discovered near a Glendora car wash last week.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office says 28-year-old Drew Alan Friis of Glendora was charged with two counts of murder with special circumstance of multiple murders. If convicted, Friis could face the death penalty. He's scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 3.

Prosecutors say Friis attacked John Anthony Welch and Warran Jay Blagrave at about 2 a.m. Thursday, stabbing each man more than 20 times. A resident heard the screams and flagged down a Glendora police lieutenant, who discovered the bodies at the car wash that morning.

Friis is being held without bail.
