Millie Hubert: Stop stimulus insanity

Stimulus equals fiscal insanity. There is a reason not a single Republican member of the House of Representative voted for
Speaker Pelosi's/President Obama's stimulus plan.

At well over $1 trillion - yes, trillion with a "T" - it was overloaded with unnecessary handouts to special-interest groups.
Some examples?

$170 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to research the cause, effects and ways to mitigate climate change, and $1 billion for a Prevention and Wellness Fund, which can be used for sexually transmitted disease education and prevention programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

While these programs may be worthwhile, they are pure pork and do not belong in the stimulus plans. It sounds like Speaker Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats are busy rewarding the special-interest groups that brought them to power.

Kudos to House Republicans and Howard P. "Buck" McKeon for opposing this waste.

The only thing stimulative about this bill is the heartburn it gives taxpayers.
