Re: The Signal’s Aug. 7 story "Water official: SCV difficult."

What?

One of the biggest items facing Santa Clarita Valley residents and businesses is the chloride issue, and there was a meeting with members of the Los Angeles Regional Quality Control Board and only a handful of people knew about it?

It was so under wraps even The Signal wasn’t told, so it had to report after the fact.

Water Quality Control Board member Fran Diamond and chief administrator Sam Unger came to College of the Canyons to talk to some members of the Valley Industrial Association. Diamond is an uber-environmentalist and resident of Pacific Palisades.

Like the rest of the board, she is an appointee of the governor — therefore she is unelected and unaccountable.

Diamond doubled down on the board’s unbridled power in reminding the audience that the board has the weight of the California Attorney General behind it.

She said she found the SCV to be "difficult" and "inflammatory" with asserting we have done nothing to alleviate the problem.

Apparently Unger and Diamond are ignorant of our community’s forfeiture of water softeners.

It seems that they came with all attitude and no facts.

What a shame that this duo would not come to an open community forum and explain their factual reasoning for the mandate of 100 milligrams per liter in Santa Clara River water leaving the county. Many of us have some very basic questions. But, of course, they know that — thus the sneak into town.

Clearly this meeting was carefully orchestrated, and I do not have one single doubt that it was purposely choreographed to the hilt.

Diamond will not return calls to The Signal.

Here is just one more example of an order to taxpayers/ratepayers: Sit down, shut up and it’s because I said so.

Oh yes, and while you’re at it, get out your wallet.
