Left to right, Mardi Rivetti and Barbara Myler were among the guests enjoying the Quinceanera party to celebrate the Hyatt Regency Valencia's 15th anniversary.

It’s back-to-school week in the Santa Clarita Valley! New shoes, new backpacks and fresh school supplies! I always enjoyed back-to-school shopping with my daughter. Truth be told, I would always treat myself to new pens at the same time!

Julie Benson

Those of you lucky enough not to have Time Warner might have caught Julie Benson, Princess Cruises vice president of public relations, on Friday’s CBS "This Morning" show. She appeared on a segment about the original Love Boat, the Pacific Princess, making its final voyage. "Bittersweet!" Benson said in her Facebook posting about the end of an era on the high seas.

Comics for a Cause

If you missed Tuesday’s Comics for a Cause to benefit the SCV Youth Project you missed a fantastic night of comedy in the SCV. I can’t remember the last time I’ve laughed so hard. Comics Billy Gardell (of "Mike and Molly), Roy Wood, Jr and Ralph Harris were hilarious. Their material about marriage was spot on and they all "killed it" for charity. Kudos to Kim Goldman for putting together an amazing fundraiser. Emcee Jeff Sutphen also did a great job. For more information on how to support the SCV Youth Project visit If you are serious about wanting to help the youth of the SCV in a way that really counts check out what this organization does to save the lives of teens everyday.

Seen at Comics

Seen at Comics for a Cause were: Vanessa Wilk and Scott Wilk, Jr., Jayne and Chris Fall, Kris and Tom Hough, Shelley and G. Marshall Hann, Jeff and Kim Greiner, Joni and John Shaffery, Julie and Steve Sturgeon, Margo and Bob Hudson, Julie Benson and Bruce Krumrine and Martin and Linda Rodriguez.

Happy 15th!

It’s hard to imagine that the Hyatt Regency Valencia opened 15 years ago!
