Santa Clarita Valley: Hart district board to discuss transfer policy

Members of the Hart district governing board will discuss changes to the district’s student transfer policy during their meeting tonight.
Inter-district transfers, where students switch what school district they attend, have traditionally been discouraged because of potential overcrowding and limited resources in schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District, according to the wording of the policy.
Though the general policy of the district would still be to not enter into inter-district student transfer agreements, the revised policy would eliminate some wording of the policy including the provisions that the district “discourages transfers into the district” and that such transfers will be approved “in cases of extreme need.”
Members of the Hart district board will vote on the revisions tonight at their meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the district’s offices at 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway.
