A woman was injured after her SUV left the road and plunged down a 50-foot embankment in Canyon Country Monday, but no other cars were involved, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., the Ford Expedition crashed down a ravine off Via Princessa near Whites Canyon Road.

Firefighters from station 107 repelled down the embankment to reach the vehicle, said Capt. Randy Gee.

The woman was placed on a stretcher with a neck brace and taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
