The weather in the Santa Clarita Valley has been almost pleasant the past few days! I am so glad that humidity packed up its soggy bags and left town!

Vine2Wine Classic

I remember the great Wine Classic event that used to be held at the California Institute of the Arts Main Gallery. So glad to know that the Vine2Wine Classic to benefit Circle of Hope, Inc. will be returning to the Classic’s roots 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Tickets are $75 in advance, $95 at the door, so it pays to buy your tickets now! It is easy to get tickets online, just visit www.vine2wineclassic.com.

I wouldn’t wait to get your tickets, it is expected this event will sell out! Dozens of wineries are expected to attend. There will be food, a beer garden and entertainment by the amazing Jimmy Carnelli & Friends. For questions call 661-254-5218 or email info@circleofhopeinc.org.

Leaving the SCV

It seems that a number of familiar faces and prominent SCV residents have recently fled the SCV for one reason or another. Among the ex-pats are Candy and Brad Spahr (to Los Osos), Candy was the 2011 SCV Woman of the Year for her dedication to volunteer work in the SCV; Robin and Paul Strickland, Paul was a trustee on the Hart District School Board and a Santa Clarita Arts Commissioner (to Florida); Natasha and Craig Duswalt recently moved to Westlake Village, Craig is the founder of the RockStar System of Success and Natasha is the founder of Peak Models and Talent; Wayne and Margaret McWorter have moved to Chicago, Wayne was head PR honcho for the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. I shall miss them all. The latest (see story on C1) — Leslie and Bob Berra leave Tuesday for Nashville, Tenn. I will miss Leslie incomparable rendition of "Life is a Cabaret." The SCV now shines less bright.
