Santa Clarita annual concrete rehabilitation program scheduled to begin Monday

In an effort to prolong the life of local roads through various street maintenance projects, the City of Santa Clarita will begin construction on Monday August 5, 2013 on Soledad Canyon Road between Honby Street and Soledad Street, with work continuing through Tuesday, August 13. Residents and drivers in the area should anticipate traffic delays, Monday through Friday between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

This work is part of the concrete rehabilitation program consisting of three annual efforts, including: the sidewalk repair program, which constructs new wheelchair ramps and replaces existing damaged sidewalks; the curb and gutter Program, which improve the drainage flow into local storm drains; and the access ramp program, which installs new access ramps serving the disabled community.

Lane closures are expected during construction hours, with partial lane openings for traffic.  The intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Honby Street will be closed during the duration of construction.  West bound traffic on Soledad Canyon Road will be detoured to Furnivall Avenue for access into the nearby community.  Residential homes on the closed portion of Honby Street will have access to their properties off of Soledad Street.  East bound traffic on Soledad Canyon Road will be directed to turn left at Furnivall Avenue or make a U-turn at the left turn pocket that leads into the Parklane Estate mobile home park just past Honby Street.

Detour plans have been developed and signage will be placed around the detour route.  The project will be completed before school starts on Wednesday, August 14, and will not affect Rio Vista Elementary School traffic.  For more information, contact Associate Engineer Christina Monde at (661) 255-4959.
