So here’s another salt solution: Keep our water

About the salt in the water that the farmers in Ventura are complaining about:

Has anyone suggested that we keep our treated water here? Instead of sending it downstream, keep it here and use it.

Send it upstream to a series of huge catch basins. It could then percolate down, purifying as it filters naturally, to re-charge our wells and replenish our aquifer.

The Ventura farmers could then make do with the natural water flow of the river, such as it is.

Sure, it might require a lot of maintenance on the catch basins some years.

On the other hand, by improving the output of our wells and aquifer, we wouldn’t have to spend as much money on the water we import every year.

Anybody have some thoughts about this idea?
