A child who nearly drowned Monday in a Stevenson Ranch pool was airlifted to a Los Angeles hospital, a spokesman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, Fire Department officials received a report of a child nearly drowning at a pool on North Hardy Place near Stafford Canyon Road in the Santa Clarita Valley, the spokesman said.

“We got the call at 2:07 as a drowning/diving,” he said. “But it turns out the child was resuscitated by the time rescuers got there.

“He was out of the water and breathing,” he said.

At 2:43 p.m., a rescue helicopter airlifted the child and an accompanying adult from a landing zone on Poe Parkway in Stevenson Ranch.
