Zimmerman trial not a case of "Get Out of Jail Free"

The "Get Out of Jail Free" editorial cartoon published in The Signal July 16 regarding the not guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial was wrong, wrong, wrong.

We are a country of laws, and the rule of law should be important to every American.

Only after political pressure was put on law enforcement to file criminal charges on Zimmerman was he brought to trial. The media lied repeatedly to paint Zimmerman as a racist vigilante to support the liberal agenda.

The prosecution withheld exculpatory evidence to prevent a fair trial. But still, six brave jurors in Florida saw through the smokescreen and did what 535 members of Congress fail to do: stand up against the tyranny of the current administration.

George Zimmerman did not "Get Out of Jail Free." He was found not guilty in a court of law in a verdict that not only vindicated him, but also vindicated Neighborhood Watch and the right to self-defense.
