"The Newhall Incident" 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society. A retired Newhall California Highway Patrol officer, Harry Ingold, one of the first officers on the scene, will speak on the 1979 tragedy where four young CHP officers were gunned down on April 5, 1970, in the lot of a service station on what is now the intersection of the Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia. The Genesis Project at Tesoro Adobe
The County of Los Angeles, Department of Parks and Recreation, presents "The Genesis Project" at Tesoro Adobe Historic Park in Valencia from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays through March 6. The show features display panels produced by graphic artist Albert L. Ewing with a photographic overview of the history of the African-American experience in America. Free to the public. Lenten Fish Fry at St. Clare's Church

Health and Wellness screenings
Blood pressure: Provided by registered nurses, free blood pressure checks are administered every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.

‘Food for Thought' SCV cookbook
The Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley is collecting recipes by SCV residents for a special cookbook, "Food for Thought - Recipes and Inspirations." Recipes should be submitted as a Word document and include category and contact information. Categories are: appetizers, soups/salads, breads, vegetables, entrees, sauces and desserts. New classes at the Senior Center

Nomination applications are available for the Santa Clarita 2009 Man and Woman of the Year. Santa Clarita Track Club meeting
