The trial of a Canyon Country man charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing 16 months ago is slated to get underway next week, a District Attorney’s spokeswoman said Thursday.

Raymundo Soto, 35, of Loretta Lane, appeared in San Fernando Superior Court Thursday where he was told his trial would start within the week, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Soto’s trial starts Thursday.

He was arrested four days after a stabbing on Feb. 29, 2012, by detectives of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and charged with attempted murder, a felony.

Two days after being arrested Soto appeared in San Fernando Superior Court, where he entered a plea of not guilty.
