LOS ANGELES (AP) — The National Weather Service says a surge in monsoonal flow of moisture is bringing scattered light showers to much of Southern California.

Conditions Thursday are expected to be uncomfortably sticky, with most rainfall limited to hit-and-miss big drops.

The upper-level flow from the southeast may also bring a chance of thunderstorms over the mountains and desert through Friday evening.

Forecasters say they do not anticipate widespread flash-flooding but not there is potential for local flooding.

Rainfall across the region in July typically averages a few hundredths of an inch except in the mountains and desert.
