SCV Administrators offer scholarships to high school seniors

Graduating seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley who have spent at least seven years in local schools have until March 30 to apply for scholarships offered by the SCV chapter of the Association of California School Administrators.

In addition to the application form and letter of reference by a high school educator, applicants must submit a one-page essay honoring a local elementary or junior high school educator who has impacted the student's life.

Scholarships will range from $250 to $500 depending upon the available funding and will be awarded at each school's Senior Awards Assembly. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade point average and must have already applied for admittance into a trade school, community college or four-year college/university.

The local ACSA charter is composed of administrators from all five local school districts, and the scholarship criteria are meant to involve educators from the elementary and junior high school level as well as high school.

"Our scholarship is designed to provide for the future as well as to connect with the past," explained Rick Drew, principal of Valley View Elementary School and this year's SCVAA Scholarship Committee chair.

Scholarship applications are available in the counseling office of all Hart District high schools.
