Sheriff's deputies are investigating what may have been a case of senior-on-senior crime in Canyon Country today.

A 74-year-old woman said that around 12:30 p.m. she was accosted by a man and woman, both in their 60s, near the KFC at the corner of Whites Canyon and Soledad Canyon roads, sheriff's Lt. Tom Bryski said.

He said the woman - who waited until almost 1:30 p.m. to call deputies - said the couple took $900 in cash from her, as well as jewelry, before fleeing in an older-model grey van.

The alleged thieves did not brandish any weapons, Bryski said, and the woman was not injured.

The alleged bandits were described as a Hispanic man of about 65 years old and a Hispanic woman of about 60 years old.

No further description was available.

Anyone with more information can call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 255-1121.
