A woman suffered minor injuries in a traffic collision involving a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department cruiser Tuesday afternoon in Newhall, emergency response crew members said.

The deputy, according to Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Dubin, was responding to a report of a man with a gun and had his lights and sirens on.

“We had a traffic collision in Newhall with a deputy involved,” said Sgt. Sam Soehnel of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“He’s OK.”

The crash involved a black-and-white sheriff’s cruiser and a white Toyota RAV 4 SUV.

A woman, identified by deputies at the scene as the driver and sole occupant of the SUV, suffered minor injuries to her neck.

The collision was reported about 1:50 p.m. at Lyons Avenue and Orchard Village Road, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
