Selections for what was formally known as the All-CIF teams were recently announced for winter sports.

Hart senior Megan Ford was the only basketball player from the Foothill League to be selected by the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association, now in charge of the CIF basketball selections.

Ford was named to the Division I-A second team after a stellar final season for the Indians.

The center was named to the first team in 2007, despite putting up lesser numbers.

For girls soccer's All-LA84 Southern Section Division II selections, five players were taken from the Foothill League.

Of the five, Sarina Coutin of Hart and Saugus' Brielle Slepicoff were named to the first team.

No area boys were named to the basketball and soccer teams.

Ford, the Foothill League Co-Player of the Year for the 2007-08 season as well as a two-time All-Santa Clarita Valley Girls Basketball Player of the Year, averaged 20.5 points per contest and 12.7 rebounds in her last season at Hart.

She scored 12.3 points and pulled down 7.2 rebounds as a junior.

Another Hart senior, Coutin, finished her four-year career as a varsity starter with an area record of 104 goals, ahead of the previous mark of 74.

She also led all area goal scorers with 26 for the 2007-08 season.

Slepicoff, another senior, helped lead the Saugus girls soccer team to its best season ever, which included a Foothill League title and an appearance in the second round of the Division II playoffs.

The midfielder was also named the Foothill League's MVP.

The All-LA84 selections included second and third teams.

Hart senior Lindsey Mills was selected as a second teamer and senior Namiko Uno was taken on the third team.

Saugus junior Erin Ortega was also named to the third team.
