Lingering questions about the Newhall roundabout

Your article in The Signal July 1 (“Roundabout ready to roll”) raised several questions in my mind:

1. Is the construction being done by a local firm?

2. Will traffic back up to the railroad tracks? Will traffic going toward the Highway 14 freeway be stuck in the roundabout when a Metro train is passing?

3. When Phil Lantis, city arts and events coordinator, states “this could potentially be the largest public art piece the city has ever done,” was he referring to height? Or just to the cost?

Hopefully he wasn’t referring to height, since being able to see cars entering and exiting the roundabout is essential.
