An elderly woman was injured Sunday afternoon following a single-car crash in Canyon Country.

About 2:40 p.m. Sunday, a tan-colored Honda Accord crashed into a wooden fence on Golden Valley Road just north of Sierra Highway, a deputy with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

“Basically, it’s a single-vehicle crash with one person injured,” he said.

The woman, identified by the investigating sheriff’s deputy as 72 years old,  was placed on a stretcher and taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital by paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Emergency response crews found the car on the sandy shoulder of Golden Valley Road’s southbound lanes, flipped onto its roof and resting on top of broken wooden fence posts.

The crash is under investigation, the deputy said.
