LOS ANGELES (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says a small plane landed next to Interstate 405, just short of the airport in Long Beach, and the pilot walked away with minor injuries.

A watch commander says the plane landed at about 1 p.m. Saturday near the Long Beach Airport, on a dirt embankment between the freeway and runways.

The plane landed on a dirt embankment between the freeway and airport, causing the temporary closure of the Orange Ave. exit on the northbound side of the freeway.

The pilot owns the plane.

The plane did not collide with any vehicles.

Traffic was reported to be moving well and all lanes of traffic were open.

No other passengers were believed to be on board.

The cause is under investigation.
