Student arrested for allegedly bringing ammo to school

An 18-year-old student was arrested Thursday on suspicion of bringing ammunition to school.

Christopher Cox, of Canyon Country, was arrested by a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detective shortly after noon Thursday on suspicion of the misdemeanor offense.

The section of the California Penal Code is 30310(A) pertaining to the offense reads: “Unless it is with the written permission of the school district superintendent, the superintendent’s designee, or equivalent school authority, no person shall carry ammunition or reloaded ammunition onto school grounds, except sworn law enforcement officers acting within the scope of their duties.”

Bail was set $500.
